A MUSIC and dance show staged in Thurso at the weekend raised over £300 for a cancer charity.

The event, organised by Ian Sinclair and Jim Labor from the Barracuda Boogie Band, linked up local musicians and the Steve Hicks modern jive team to raise money for Cancer Research UK’s Relay for Life.

The Barracuda Boogie Band kicked off proceedings at the Park Hotel on Sunday afternoon and were joined by guests including the Farr Bay Blues Blowers, the Shoobie-Doo-Wops and slide guitarist John Newton.

“I thought it went really well and would very much like to keep it going on a regular basis,” said Ian.

Karen Hanna, a team member of the 50 Peaks Relay for Life team, was also delighted with the response to the event. She said a total of £313 was raised.

“It went very well and we are very happy with the amount raised for the charity,” she said.
