Caithness District Young Farmers are hoping for a big turnout at their open seed and root show this Saturday in Murkle hall.

The event is making a return as part of the celebrations marking the Young Farmers' centenary in the county.

A seed and root show is a display of seeds, grasses, vegetables and baking with origins dating back to rationing during World War II and the Dig for Victory campaign.

It is open to everyone of all ages, whether members, non-members or past members, and entry is free.

Schedules are on the Caithness District Young Farmers’ Facebook page or otherwise contact the secretary, Euan Bremner, on 07554 987548.

The hall will open for entries at 9am. Entries close for judging at 10.30am.

The hall opens to the public for viewing at 3pm, with an auction of produce at 4.30pm.
