MP offers support to end-to-end scooter riders
LOCAL MP John Thurso will be at John O’Groats today to give his support to a group of 12 scooter riders before it sets off on a fundraising marathon to Land’s End.
The Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross MP will be there as the riders embark on their 1660-mile journey which will take them to Land’s End and then on to Beachy Head in the south-east of England before finishing off in Ashford in Kent.
The riders are going to Beachy Head in homage to The Who’s classic album, Quadrophenia.
The aim of the trip is to raise money for a small Kent-based charity called Find A Voice which helps and supports people of all ages with speech, language and communication difficulties.
Also present will be the disabled Scottish actor and playwright, Robert Softly Gale.

Robert, who suffers from cerebral palsy, is a keen supporter of the charity and a very successful playwright. His latest play, called Girl X, has recently played at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh, The Citizens in Glasgow, Dundee Rep and Eden Court Theatre in Inverness.
Find A Voice chairman Alastair Dutch is delighted John Thurso will be at the event. He was also pleased Robert will be present.
“Robert’s support for the event is truly inspirational as he suffers from severe cerebral palsy and is making his way from Glasgow to be there,” said Mr Dutch.
