Motorists doubling up on speed limit

SPEEDSTERS in Halkirk who are driving through the village at almost double the 30mph limit are set to be targeted by police.

Complaints have been made by villagers that motorists are driving between the level crossing to the end of Bridge Street at almost 60mph.

Police Scotland said traffic travelling between 6:30am and 7:30am as well as 6pm to 7pm have been thought to be travelling well above the 30mph speed limit on the stretch of road.

Thurso Police Station are seeking for motorists who travel along this section of roadway to obey and adhere to the given speed limits and show consideration for the residents who live there.

Due to the expressed concern Police are to monitor this section of roadway and enforce breaches of road traffic regulation.
