The rail operator has provided a replacement bus for people making the journey south from Thurso, which is expected to collect passengers at 8.34am.

ScotRail say frozen points at Georgemas Junction have prevented the service from diverting north to Thurso.

A statement on Twitter from ScotRail read: "Our 0618 Wick to Inverness service won't be calling at Thurso today, we've got a replacement bus on the way to the station - it's due at 0834.

"This is because the points (which allow trains to switch between the route to Thurso and the one for Inverness) have frozen up."
