The Mina Mackay Festival of Dancing returned this month after a two-year break caused by Covid.

Due to restrictions, the team from the Thurso-based Mina Mackay dance school ran the festival slightly differently than before but there was still a great entry with dancers from all over Caithness and as far away as Huntly attending.

The venue was the Assembly Rooms in Wick.

A statement from the dance school committee said: "We are delighted to have been able to run our festival again this year. All the organisation involved is worth it when you see the dancers in their kilts enjoying performing again and putting all their hard work in classes into practice.

"We would also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank-you to William Durrand from High Life Highland who, despite staff shortages, went above and beyond in order to ensure that the festival could go ahead as planned."

There were 84 dancers competing over four sessions on Sunday, March 6. The youngest dancers were five years old.
