Sewing mentors, Craft from the Croft Caithness, is following its successful Thurso and Halkirk sewing workshops with another two dates for the diary.

Workshops will be taking place on the following Saturdays – April 13 in Watten Village Hall and April 27 in the Norseman Hotel, Wick. Anyone can come to the taster sessions which are open all day 9.30am to 4pm and people can learn various sewing skills as well as how to use a sewing machine. Bring your own projects or use the group’s materials.

The group organised a run of six group sessions in the Ross Institute, Halkirk, following on from the previous taster sessions. At the final one of these on Saturday March 2, three attendees came with their own sewing machines.

Attendees at these sessions have been successfully supported by mentors, passing on their skills including making outfits using a pattern and buttonholing.

The group is always looking for new mentors, people with a sewing interest with skills that could be passed to others.
