Police are hunting a callous thief or thieves who stole a donation box from a community hub in a Caithness village.

The force is appealing for information after the charity cash collection box was stolen from the Sharing Shack in Dunbeath.

The venue provides food supplies to local people in need.

Police would particularly like to hear from anyone who may have captured footage of the culprit or culprits on automated video cameras on Wednesday morning.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We are appealing to the community in Caithness for information following the theft of a donation box from the Sharing Shack in Dunbeath.

"The incident is believed to have taken place between the hours of 9.30 am and 10 am on Wednesday 4th October 2023.

"If you have any CCTV or doorbell cameras in the area, we would encourage you to check for anything suspicious.

"If you can assist with our enquiries, please contact us on 101 and quote incident 1292 of 04/10/2023."
