A temporary mobile post office is in operation in Wick this week because of Covid-related staffing issues affecting the High Street branch.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “Due to staffing issues caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Wick Post Office had to temporarily close from Monday afternoon. We have very quickly organised a solution to provide a replacement service.

“A mobile post office service is starting today [Wednesday] in the riverside car park."

The opening hours are: Wednesday, 10.30am to 2.30pm; Thursday, 9am to 2pm; and Friday, 11.15am to 2.15pm.

It is hoped the normal branch will open again on Monday.

The spokesperson added: “We really want to thank postmaster Glyn Jackson for adding Wick to his mobile post office service at very short notice. Glyn previously operated the interim mobile service, so he knows the Wick community well.”
