Pupils at a Thurso primary school took part in a special service to learn about the Easter story. The youngsters from Miller Academy enjoyed the event which was held in the West Church.

Head teacher Jacqui Budge said: "We are very fortunate the West Church, is almost next door and so a very short and easy walk for us all. Our service was led by American worshippers at the Church, Peter and Wendy Hylton who had put a great deal of thought and preparation in to the service.

"Some of our children took part in the enactment of the Easter story by waving palm branches, while others laid down cloths for the donkey to walk on. The life size donkey was very popular with our children and it was a lovely prop to help visualise the story."

Mrs Budge added: "We are, as always, grateful to our families who joined us and through their kind donations we raised £81 for the Disasters Emergency Committee for the Turkey / Syria earthquake tragedy. Alan Sparling was instrumental in helping to organise our service and Lorna Sinclair played the Hosana music beautifully for the hymn that we had learned."
