Mey Nursery Trial attracts competitors from all over Scotland but honours go to Jasmine Grant from Dunbeath
Competitors from various parts of the country competed in the Mey Nursery Trial – the first of the season – at the weekend.
The event, which was held at Wester Farm, Dunnet on Saturday, saw a keen contest as those taking part were trying to secure vital points to qualify for the Scottish Nursery Final.
But the day belonged to Jasmine Grant from Dunbeath who with her bitch, Pat, won this year's nursery – and open section.
Runner-up was Geordie Simpson from Aberdeenshire with his bitch Trish.
However, arguably the highlight of the day for many competitors and spectators came from Vicky Shearer and her bitch Misty who finished in third place, beating her father Michael Shearer and his young dog, Cap, into fourth place. It was the first time she had beat him and that was quite an achievement as Michael has won the Scottish National event three times and is a former world champion.
Dennis Simpson, the chairman of the Mey Sheepdog Association, said: "Overall, it was a good trial to start the nursery season here in the north. The weather stayed reasonably dry, and even though it was Baltic at times, it was decent conditions to trial in.
"Thank you to everyone who came and supported us in both a competing and spectating capacity. It is very much appreciated."
