Met Office issue fresh Storm Isha amber alert warning of gusts up to 90mph from 6pm

The Met Office have issued an update to their earlier amber alert ahead of Storm Isha, warning the public of "strong, perhaps damaging, winds".
The amber warning, which had been expected to come in to effect from 9pm, will now take effect from 6pm across the whole of the United Kingdom.

Gust speeds of 60-70 mph are expected inland, with coastal areas likely to experience speeds of 70-80 mph. In exceptional case, wind gusts of 90 mph could be felt in parts of the country.
The updated warning will remain in place until 6am Monday.
In a statement on their website, the Met Office confirmed: "A spell of very strong, perhaps damaging, winds associated with Storm Isha is likely to bring disruption to transport and infrastructure."
What to Expect
- Damage to buildings and homes is possible, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down
- Roads, bridges and railway lines may close, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights
- Power cuts could occur and affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
- Flying debris could result in a danger to life
- Potential for large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
Train services have already been affected, with ScotRail announcing with cancellation of several routes due to run this evening and early tomorrow morning.
A yellow weather warning for rain also remains in place across Scotland from 3pm throughout the rest of the day, with melting snow and rainfall likely to cause some flooding and transport disruption.
