MEMBERS of the armed forces and veterans are being offered free bus travel on Sunday.

The initiative by Stagecoach Highlands is part of its activities to commemorate the contribution of servicemen and women in World War I, World War II and later conflicts.

The company has made a contribution to the Royal British Legion, so all drivers who choose to wear a poppy can do so.

On Remembrance Sunday, Stagecoach Highlands will be offering free travel to armed forces personnel carrying a military ID card and to veterans wearing the veteran’s badge.

Veterans and military servicemen and women can use the free bus service to attend a number of planned processions and services in towns and villages across the Highlands.

David Beaton, managing director of Stagecoach Highlands, said: “We are always proud to be supporting Remembrance Sunday, and this year we want to say a huge thank-you to all our armed forces who have served, sacrificed and strengthened our freedoms.

“Through our support we hope we can send a clear message to our armed forces communities in the Highlands that we appreciate and recognise the commitment they have made to our country over the years.

"Remembrance Sunday is a day for the nation to remember and honour those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom. It is hoped that personnel wishing to pay their respects will take up our offer to travel across the Highlands to a service of their choice."
