A virtual majorette gala parade held in Wick this summer has proved a big hit with all those who took part.

This year the Marrellian Majorette parade included a competition split into three age groups judged by mystery Wick Gala organisers.

The overall winners for the three sections were Isla Sinclair (3-5), Emma Mackay (5-8) and Amelija Bradauskaite (8-11). Everyone who took part got a medal.

One of the coaches Carrie MacKay said: "Our Virtual Majorette Gala Parade 2021 was a huge success and the girls and their families really enjoyed the excitement of getting dressed up and performing.

"The competition element is something that we hope to continue when the Wick Gala parade returns. A special thank you goes to our judges and the Wick Gala committee who donated the trophies and medals."

To round off the summer the majorettes held a Twirl and Cheer Camp comprising of Princess Party and the Greatest Twirl Camp. Children aged from 2-11 years attended the event, which was held in the gym at Newton Park Primary School.

Carrie said: "We used lots of different types of twirling and cheer equipment and learned new dances to their themes. All girls received goody bags for the event.

"The girls really enjoyed their day doing something different and feedback suggests this is something we would be keen to repeat in the future. We now look forward to returning to our extended classes where we hope to get back into a more normal routine.
