A Wick man said to have caused his ex-partner fear and alarm by pestering her with messages was last week ordered to carry out 125 hours of unpaid community work.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis also banned Rumel Khan (35) from having any contact with his former partner.
The accused was said to have repeatedly sent her messages using social media and his mobile phone between June 1 and August 15.
Khan, of Spice Tandoori, The Shore, Wick, initially denied the charge but was found guilty after a trial at Wick Sheriff Court in November.
Sheriff Foulis said that while the offence was perhaps "at the lower end of the scale" the effect on the woman had been clear during the evidence she gave in the witness box.
