A THURSO man has had a non-harassment order imposed on him after being found guilty of threatening and abusive behaviour towards a former partner at a nightclub in the town.

Thirty-nine-year-old James Brims, of Howburn Road, was also fined £300 when he appeared on deferred sentence at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The order means Brims can have no contact directly or indirectly with Anita MacLeod for 12 months.

Brims was found guilty by a jury last month of threatening and abusive behaviour towards his ex-partner and causing her fear and alarm by grabbing hold of her wrist in the nightclub and refusing to let go of it in Skinandi’s nightclub on December 23, 2012.

Mrs MacLeod, a 46-year-old dental nurse, was with colleagues on a Christmas night out but the festive mood turned sour following the incident at the nightclub.

Full report in Friday’s John O’Groat Journal.
