A MAN has been jailed for sending threatening text messages to a woman.

John Begg (24), of Strathy House, Thurso appeared from custody at Wick Sheriff Court today (Friday) having previously admitted engaging in a course of conduct which caused Lianna Gunn fear and alarm between December 8 and December 10.

Begg claimed the woman was responsible for having a permanent tattoo put on his neck while he was asleep last year and threatened to report her to the police.

He also threatened to reveal things about her lifestyle, which resulted in her telling him not to contact her again.

But Begg ignored Ms Gunn’s request and sent her three more threatening text messages.

Begg was sentenced to 135 days in prison, backdated to December 11 when he was remanded in custody.
