A sheriff has called for a background report on a man found with a knife in a Wick shop.

Jason Reilly (37) admitted the offence and a previous record of offending at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The offence occurred at the One Stop Shop, in Wellington Street, Wick, on December 13, last year.

Solicitor Fiona MacDonald suggested there might be "an underlying difficulty" in the background to the incident.

Sheriff Neil Wilson will consider a background report before sentencing Reilly, of Nicolson Street, Wick, on March 20.

The sheriff ordered forfeiture of the knife.
