A man is alleged to have hidden in a cupboard in a bid to defeat the ends of justice.

Corinn Macphee (25), of no fixed abode, has also been charged with threatening or abusive behaviour.

He appeared from custody at Wick Sheriff Court on Thursday and was remanded after pleading not guilty.

The two charges alleged that he pursued a woman and attempted to gain entry to a house in Huddart Street, Wick, on August 9 and uttered threats of violence.

Macphee is also accused of giving police officers a false name and date of birth at a house in Wellington Avenue and hiding from them in a cupboard there.

He was remanded in custody by Sheriff David Sutherland after Fiscal David Barclay opposed bail.

Macphee will return to court for trial on September 7.
