A Thurso man has denied a charge of dangerous driving and one of driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

James Forde (52) is alleged to have driven at speed, mounted pavements and verges, repeatedly collided with a wall and repeatedly veered back and fore between the opposite sides of the road into the path of oncoming traffic.

The offences are said to have taken place in Thurso and on the A9 to Scrabster, on February 17, Wick Sheriff Court heard on Tuesday.

Forde, of Naver Court, Thurso, was granted bail and will stand trial on May 2.
