Man admonished over ammunition find at Watten home

A Watten man found with 25 rounds of ammunition at his home has complied with a sheriff's order to behave.

Adam Burrill (43) appeared at Wick Sheriff Court a year ago and pleaded guilty to a breach of firearms regulations.

Police discovered a cache of twenty 7.26 caliber rounds and five 5.56 caliber rounds when they visited his home in Station Road, Watten, on April 28, 2023.

Possession was contrary to the Firearms Act of 1968 (amended).

There were also military service medals in the house.

Sheriff Neil Wilson, who saw a background report, was satisfied that Burrill was getting the help “he clearly needed” and made him subject to a year’s good behaviour order.

The court was told on Wednesday that the accused, who wasn’t present in court, had not been in trouble during the past year.

He was admonished.
