A Lyth man is alleged to have gone hunting hares and deer in a cemetery.
Nicholas Chenier pleaded not guilty at Wick Sheriff Court on Wednesday and also denied further charges.
These allege the 55-year-old, using a dog, wilfully injured a deer which had to be put down, and being in possession of a dead deer which he knew had been injured by a dog.
Chenier, of Wester Bridge, Reaster, Lyth, also denies possession of a knife.
The offences are said to have occurred in Olrig Cemetery, Castletown, on March 2.
Chenier will stand trial on January 7.
