Caithness arts organisation Lyth Arts Centre has launched a new look brochure to mark the release of its next series of live events.

The LAC Mag, which will be delivered to homes and businesses across the county from next week, includes guest features from local artists and young people as well as fellow community organisations. Alongside the new columns will also be the usual listings and information of upcoming events programmed by the arts centre.

Marketing manager Calvin Wilson said: "We wanted to try something different this year to our usual brochure. Hopefully with the added features and interesting reading, the booklet will be a source of inspiration and creativity for people."

The spring season includes a wide variety of events happening in different spaces and places in Caithness. Music highlights include harpist Esther Swift, Orkney-duo Saltfishforty and a special gig by Breabach at the Assembly Rooms. Caithness funk legends James Brown is Annie are also back for two nights in April. Live theatre also makes a welcome return with physical theatre Company of Wolves bringing new show Unbecoming and a new multimedia theatre production from Aberdeen exploring the 1988 Piper Alpha Disaster.

Families and young people have plenty to choose from, especially in the Easter holidays.

With a selection of free shows and workshops taking place, there’s a chance to run away with the circus and sharpen up on juggling skills. On Saturday, April 8, outdoor show The Good, the Bad and the Poultry brings a riotous family show to the Rosebank Playing Fields, complete with an Easter Egg Hunt.

Finally, film fans are in for a treat with a selection of new independent cinema alongside a series of films profiling Scottish music. This includes Shooglenifty’s hotly anticipated new film Heading West which tells the story of the bands recovery after losing front man of 25 years Angus Grant.

The new booklet also announces the return of the hugely popular Summer Sessions to Wick, taking place from Friday, July 14 – Sunday, July 23.
