Lyth Arts Centre (LAC) announces the launch of Inspired by Books – a “new and exciting” visual exhibition by local artist Katie Squires.

Inspired by Books is the brainchild of local artist and printmaker Katie Squires. The exhibition brings to life how Katie's imagination interprets the compelling stories she loves to read. The end product is a very visual look inside Katie's imagination.

Katie said: “I am an artist and book addict.

“I love to get lost in stories, especially while creating. The Idea of 'Inspired By Books' came from the love of reading, imagination and creativity. I love to use my imagination to visually see what's happening in the books I'm reading and bring it to life in my own imagination.”

She continues: “With this exhibition, I wanted to show the connection between the books I read and how I see them. I wanted to bring the books to life and create an experience that goes beyond reading. Using different mediums and bringing everything together I will hopefully achieve an immersive and interactive experience based on Scottish crime novels.”

Katie will also be running some other events around the exhibition including workshops and author talks – some events require booking.

More information can be found on LAC’s website: lytharts.org.uk/inspired-by-books/

The exhibition held at LAC will be open to the public from Wednesday, April 17 until Saturday, April 20 (10am - 4pm).
