CHILDREN at Lybster Primary School pulled out all the stops to provide some festive cheer for youngsters in Romania.

An appeal was made by former pupil support assistant Angela Henderson, who wanted to help the country's orphaned and disadvantaged children.

Mrs Henderson had visited Romania along with her husband and son, and the family had been so moved by what they saw that they decided to put out a local appeal to bring some Christmas cheer.

Lybster school provided 39 shoe boxes along with several big boxes of items either provided or bought with the proceeds from a cake sale.

Their goodwill also extended to the dogs as Mrs Henderson has links with the Paws2 Rescue charity which works to relieve the plight of Romanian canines by supporting private shelters. The school was able to provide lots of bedding and towels to make the kennels more comfortable.

The donations were collected from the school by local firm GMR Henderson, which is run by Mrs Henderson's husband Gerry.
