A GROUP of primary seven pupils at Lybster have been recognised for their outstanding commitment towards understanding the impact of World War I on Scotland and ensuring that the legacy of the war is remembered by future generations

It came in the form of a certificate from the WW100 Scotland Commemorations Panel which was presented by John Thurso, the Lord-Lieutenant of Caithness, at a recent event in the Lybster Centre where the pupils were accompanied by their head teacher Carol Grant.

The pupils had written and published a collection of poems on the subject of WWI which was then sold in the local community. Chrissie Polson, day centre vice-chairperson, was presented a cheque for £250 from the proceeds of book sales.
