Lybster hotel's festive gift to local pensioners

THE Portland Hotel in Lybster is bringing festive cheer to the village with the announcement of free Christmas dinners for lonely pensioners.

Brother and sister team Steven and Sharn Swan, who own the refurbished hotel, are offering a free Christmas dinner to pensioners in Lybster who would otherwise be spending the day on their own.

Sharn said: "Many of us take friends and family for granted at that time of year but it is important to remember that lots of elderly people will spend the day alone.

"We have had a good season and decided to offer a little back to those that may not have."

The big-hearted proprietors invite elderly folk living close to the hotel to "come and share the very day that is all about family and sharing".

Steven said: "They can come here and spend Christmas with lots of people around them, enjoy a three-course dinner and a present from under the tree. All they have to do is get and touch and let us know they would like to join us."

Steven and Sharn have gone a step further and say that they will do their best to pick up and drop off anyone unable to make their way to the Portland Hotel on Christmas Day.
