A Wick RNLI volunteer has been presented with a long service medal in recognition of his fundraising efforts for the lifeboat service over a period of more than 20 years.

Hamish Steven has taken part in many fundraising events, in addition to his regular commitments in travelling anywhere within the county to collect and swap out the lifeboat collection boxes associated with the Wick fundraising branch.

Up until recently, Hamish was a daily visitor to the lifeboat station where he was kept up to speed on all things RNLI – as well as keeping the crew updated too.

Some of the crew and fundraising team were keen to surprise Hamish, so a visit to the Laurandy day centre was arranged and Murray Lamont, chairman of the Wick RNLI lifeboat management group, presented him with his award.
