Loch Ness and the Cairngorms among top 5 most Instagrammable spots in Scotland

Two Highland scenic locations were listed among the most Instagrammable tourist destination in the country according to a new survey.

Loch Ness and the Cairngorms National Park ranked fourth and fifth in the list, which was created by analysing the number of posts on Instagram featuring by hashtag.

The survey carried out by Private Tours Scotland identified 30 popular tourist destinations using VisitScotland and online research and then recorded the total number of posts featuring the location’s hashtag.

Loch Ness (#lochness) featured in 527,939 posts on the social media platform, with 331,923 posts using the #caingorms hashtag.

The top three locations were Edinburgh Castle (723,165 hashtags), Glencoe (607,634 ) and Loch Lomond (596,965 ).

Struan Baird, co-founder of Private Tours Scotland, commented on the findings: “Discovering the most Instagrammable destinations in Scotland offers a unique insight into the country’s most popular and picture-perfect spots for tourists.

“From spectacular lochs and mountains to fascinating castles rich with history, this data showcases the appreciation of Scotland’s beauty from tourists and locals, hopefully providing inspiration for your next trip.”
