LOCAL couple Les and Pam Watt were the guests of honour at the Reay Christmas lights switch-on.

The annual event, which was attended by a large crowd, was held at Reay village hall and included an afternoon of entertainment by local primary school children and under-fives, along with mulled wine, tea, coffee and a selection of home baking.

This was followed by the switching on of the lights by the Watts, who have lived in the village for a number of years and have taken an active part in the community. The honour was accorded to them to mark their departure from the area in January to be closer to their family.

A spokesperson for event organisers, the Reay Christmas Lights Committee, said: "We would like to thank all those who came along to make it an enjoyable afternoon and especially to everyone who helped to make it happen."
