A limited-edition gin produced in Dunnet is being launched next month to support the fundraising work of the Rotary Club of Thurso.

Gin lovers will be raising a glass of Cold Water Gin, named after the classic cold water surf synonymous with the north, to mark Rotary's partnership with Dunnet Bay Distillers.

The gin uses spearmint, caraway and a few other botanicals to create the taste – described as like a splash of cold water on a summer's day.

Available from October 5 exclusively from J A Mackay in Thurso, with a tasting also on October 5, there will be a maximum of 500 bottles produced and they are likely to sell quickly, with some pre-orders already in.

Martin Murray, of Dunnet Bay Distillers, said: “We are delighted to support the Rotary Club of Thurso and wish them every success with the sales of the Cold Water Gin.”

Thurso Rotary president Alan Gerrard added: “The Rotary Club is delighted to be working with a local distiller to generate a unique and limited-edition gin which will create support for our fundraising activities and I very much look forward a first sampling. I think it will make an ideal present for Christmas.”
