A99 Wick road reopens at Lybster after two-vehicle crash





Two people have been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash on a vital trunk road, which has now reopened.

This evening, officers confirmed that the collision on the A99 saw two people taken to Caithness General Hospital in Wick.

The crash, which took place just before 1.50pm, saw a busy section of the road between Latheron and Lybster closed for a number of hours.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson earlier said that they were called to crash site at 1.51pm at the request of police.

Two appliances, one from Wick and the other from Thurso, were initially despatched, although only one was ultimately needed.

“The A99 has re-opened following a two-vehicle crash near Lybster, which was reported to us around 1.40pm on Monday, 14 July, 2025,” a Police Scotland spokesperson said.

“Two people were taken to Caithness General Hospital in Wick for assessment.

“Motorists are thanked for their patience.”
