Legal firm with Caithness connections to set up office in London’s Soho district
A solicitor’s practice with offices in Wick and Thurso is heading south of the border to set up a base in the centre of London.
Inksters has been in business since 1999, with an office in Wick since 2013 (operated by Sylvia MacLennan) and one in Thurso since 2018 (operated by Charlotte Platt). Over the past 26 years, Inksters has developed a network of solicitors throughout Scotland, currently operating from 12 different locations.
Now the firm is expanding into England with solicitor Jane Clemetson joining it in London.
Ms Clemetson has worked for the UK’s music licensing company PPL and Sony Music as well as advising EMI and other music and news publishers, including Reach, News UK and the Telegraph Media Group.
Her practice covers everything from the development, production and distribution of audio and audio-visual content, music, newspaper, book and magazine publishing and podcasts as well as advertising, marketing, sponsorship, events and social media, in addition to advising on data protection and AI.
Inksters says Ms Clemetson’s legal expertise will be of great value to the Scottish business market.

Brian Inkster, founder and CEO of Inksters, said: “I am excited by this latest development as we continue Inksters’ expansion, and now with a base in the heart of Soho in London. Jane Clemetson brings a wealth of new experience to Inksters, which will be of immense benefit to Scottish clients.”
Ms Clemetson said: “I am delighted to be joining Inksters and look forward to working closely with clients in Scotland and developing Inksters’ client base south of the border.”
This expansion into England comes on the back of the firm extending its international reach, becoming the first Scottish member of the International Practice Group (IPG): a global community of lawyers, accountants, tax advisors and M and A specialists. Inksters was also admitted at the group’s spring conference in Naples on May 17, 2025.
The IPG was formed in 1988 and currently has member firms in 44 countries on 6 continents of the world.
Mr Inkster said: “It is a great honour for Inksters to have been invited to join the IPG and to become their first Scottish member firm.
“Membership allows us to serve, in Scotland, clients referred from the member firms abroad. Likewise, it provides our Scottish clients with reliable and trusted advice if and when they need it in foreign jurisdictions.
“I am looking forward to making meaningful connections with more members of the Group at the next Conference in Singapore this Autumn.”
