Laurandy staff and families celebrate top marks in care report
STAFF and families got together at the Laurandy Centre in Wick to celebrate the top marks received in a recent inspection report.
Manager Margaret Allan said: "We wanted to mark the occasion and celebrate getting the best grades. We invited in families as a way of thanking them for their feedback.
"The staff were there too, it was just a way of getting together and enjoying the occasion. We are all involved together."
Cutting the cake at the afternoon celebration on Thursday was Dorrie Barnes (98), the centre's oldest service user.
After a recent unannounced visit from the Care Inspectorate, Laurandy was given a grading of "excellent" for both the quality of care and support on offer and the quality of management and leadership.
It was just a way of getting together and enjoying the occasion. We are all involved together.
As part of the inspection, service users and their families were asked to given care standards questionnaires and Mrs Allan said the celebration was a way of thanking them for the feedback received.
Among the responses was the following comment: "The staff are wonderful. They treat us like kings and queens, with great respect. The staff give a wonderful service. Crème de la crème."
