Latest LGBT+ magazine UnDividingLines features interview with Highland News and Media sports reporter
A sports writer for Highland News and Media, which publishes the Caithness Courier and John O'Groat Journal, is featured in a new edition of a magazine produced in the far north.
Highlands & Islands LGBT+ magazine UnDividingLines is edited by Wick man Kevin Crowe.
He explained that the latest edition of the magazine includes a lead interview with sports journalist Andrew Henderson, who also runs the website Pride Of The Terraces (POTT), where he writes about LGBT+ issues in sport and interviews sportspeople. As well as the interview, Andrew has also contributed an article on "sportswashing".
The latest issue of the award-winning magazine is available now and also features Highlands and Islands MSP Emma Roddick writing about the gender recognition legislation making its way through the Scottish Parliament. And Caithness FM presenter Sand Owsnett has contributed an article about disco and house music, as part of a series of articles entitles Sounds Queer.
Highland-born artist Douglas Miller, who now lives in London, is the featured artist. Much of his project Creutair, in which he puts a queer spin on Scottish history and myth using the techniques of fashion photography and text provided by writers, is included.
Both fiction and poetry are featured, including Cathi Rae's poems about suicide among young men, 2nd Witch's poetry about Ukraine and William Fraser, who only began to write poetry to prove that someone with dyslexia could do so and who now has his own website and his collection available on Amazon.
There are book reviews looking at recently published fiction as well as a review of recent books about LGBT+ people of faith. There is also an advice column by professional intimacy coach Michael Dresser which looks at issues relating to consent.
Mr Crowe said: “With over 130 pages, this is one of our largest issues yet, and there is something for everyone. Many LGBT+ people feel isolated, particularly in rural areas like the Highlands and Islands, and I believe UnDividingLines helps keep people in contact with what is happening, as well as offering support, advice and entertainment.”
