New Wick manager David Kirkwood is impressed by the squad.

THE new manager of Wick Academy has held his first training session since taking over at the helm of the Highland League side.

David Kirkwood put the Scorries through their paces at Harmsworth Park on Thursday night.

He said he was impressed with what he saw but hinted new signings could be on the cards.

"We do need to work on a few things which may result in a few new additions coming into the squad," he explained.

But he described the players as "talented".

Kirkwood added: "I will take a few weeks to assess where we are strong in the squad and where we are weak and make provisions for that."
