Wick Academy manager Davie Kirkwood has agreed a new deal at Harmsworth Park.

Davie Kirkwood said he took less than 60 minutes to agree to stay on as manager of Wick Academy.

The club confirmed today he has agreed to an extended contract that will see the former Ross County coach remain in charge at Harmsworth Park.

The length of the deal has not been made public, but chairman Colin Stewart said that he was delighted that the manager had agreed terms.

Kirkwood stepped into the role last Summer and his first season has been considered a success by the club board, where he has guided The Scorries to at least a top half finish after the 3-0 win over Lossiemouth on Saturday.

Speaking after the game, he said that the club had a bright future and he wanted to be part of it.

"After speaking with the board, it took me less than an hour to agree to stay on as manager," he said.

"I have a clear vision for Wick Academy and we have a very young ambitious squad that is willing to work hard.

"I'm not saying that we'll definitely challenge for the title next season, but I think we can push on from the good work we've done this year."
