Lightning strikes again and again

THEY say lightning never strikes the same place twice but a Keiss mum saw multiple strikes over the same area and managed to capture it all with her camera.

Kimberley Merry was in her sitting room with her children as a storm raged overhead last week and snapped away as bolts of lightning came down over rooftops across the road.

"Myself and daughter Ella sat and watched the lightning from our sitting room in High Street. Then my son Freddie joined us."

She said that Ella was excited by the flashes overhead but Freddie didn't like the sounds of the thunder.

Kimberley got her camera out and took shot after shot in the hope she would capture a lightning bolt as it appeared.

"I just kept taking lots of pictures, over 50, in the hope of catching lightning strikes."

Her efforts paid dividends as she managed to capture the moment as the lightning bolts slammed down just beyond the village.

Kimberley said she had some previous success when she was on holiday in South Shields a few years ago and captured an image of lightning then too. "I love watching it," she said.
