HAVE you ever wondered where council gritters have been deployed across the Highlands?

The Highland Roads Twitter site @HChighlandroads has tweeted a map of the Highlands indicating where each of its gritters is thanks to tracking devices on the vehicles.

Over the past two days temperatures have dropped below zero in Caithness as motorists have been taking extra caren on the roads during Thursday and Friday morning.

On Thursday morning, a lorry was stuck on the A9 at Dunbeath while travelling south as snow caused issues for vehicles.

This weekend temperatures will also fall before zero overnight in the area, with it plummeting to minus three degrees on Saturday but rising to minus one on Sunday morning.
