John O'Groats walking trail is on the route to success
THE John O’Groats Trail following cliff tops and shorelines from Inverness to the Caithness village will launch tomorrow.
The Friends of the JOGT is calling on people to gather at Thrumster House to celebrate the occasion which will feature speaker John Thurso, the newly-appointed chairman of VisitScotland, and a slide show of coastal images by Caithness nature photographer Ken Crossan.
The walking route follows almost 145 miles of coastline and aims to promote tourism to the coastal towns and villages and attractions along it.
It is hoped to one day be the favoured route to finish the Land’s End to John O’Groats trek instead of what the Friends of the JOGT – a coalition of walking groups and local tourism bodies – regard as the dangerous walk north along the A9.
The launch event will be held from 4.30-7pm.
