I COULD never serve the people with a party perched on my shoulder like a spectacled crow. I would serve the people by establishing strong links with all 82 (surprised me too) Landward community councillors. I would try to gain their consensus and act on their behalf.

A blog, landwardward.wordpress.com (already booked), would make visible my activities and results achieved. Nothing a person wanted kept private would be published but successes and failures would be public.

Council activities would be monitored and reported. My performance could be measured. After one year, if I have fallen short, I quit.

I have been a chartered engineer for nearly 40 years; if the Caithness committee had had one 10 years ago the taxpayer would not have wasted £16,000,000 on Wickiheats.

Education, transport and services for the elderly are under stress; the purse is getting slimmer. Ways must be found to do things more cheaply – no precinct prestige extravaganzas.
