Caithness rider Jessica Calder helped secure fourth place for the Scottish team she was part of at the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) summer championship show at Arena UK, Lincolnshire.

Twelve-year-old Jess and her Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) supreme champion working hunter pony Coco Bongo were chosen to represent Scotland following a number of successes at shows in the south this summer.

She was one of eight Scottish riders chosen to take part in the inter country teams working hunter competition which took place last Wednesday. They were split into two teams – Nevis and Lomond – and competed against riders from England, Wales and Ireland.

Jess, who competed in the 133cm class, also came second individually amongst the Scottish riders taking part in the champion of champions working hunter competition. She said she'd had a super time making new friends from the other countries competing and jumping each day really brought on the partnership between her and Bluebell (Coco Bongo).

Coco Bongo made history at the last HOYS in 2019 being the first working hunter pony to take the supreme championship on the final night.
