A Jersey yachtsman has made history by becoming the first person to successfully sail non-stop between Lands End and John O’Groats.

Phil Sharp accompanied by Sean Conway and Alex Alley took 83 hours and 53 minutes to sail between Lands End and John O'Groats.

It is the first official sailing record between the two signposts ever recorded.

The trio left Cornwall on Friday and sailed up the West coast of Britain before heading past Cape Wrath on Monday morning.

Travelling in a high-performance Class 40 racing boat, the three men arrived at John O'Groats at 9:05pm.
