There are two sides to the story of a Wick high street retailer as she converts her premises from one line of products to another overnight.

Beverley Miller has been running Simply Bliss since October 2009 and celebrated a decade of operating the bridal boutique last year with a giveaway of special gifts.

But like many other retailers throughout the country, 2020 has not been a year of celebrations with the pandemic affecting many businesses.

Beverley's husband, Jonathan, said it wasn't all "doom and gloom" though and there was some positive news to tell.

He said: "With Covid-19 the wedding industry, and Simply Bliss, has taken a pretty big hit and seen a drop off in business. Beverley, however, has shown resilience and innovation on the high street and has recently launched a baby and children’s clothing boutique online and has repurposed the shop as such."

Beverley said she started trading from a standalone website called Baby Bliss in August with a totally new line of luxury children's wear.

"We tried doing it from the pop up shop in Thurso and then saw there was a gap in the market in Wick for quality children's clothing," she said.

Over the last few weeks, Beverley has been experimenting with the High Street premises and been transforming it back and forth from bridal wear to baby wear.

The shop was Baby Bliss for a fortnight last month and then transformed back overnight to Simply Bliss as there were pre-booked appointments.

Jonathan said: "Once these are complete, another late night in the shop will transform it once again in to Baby Bliss for the run up to Christmas."

Proud of his wife's achievements and entrepreneurship he added: "With everything going on in the world right now and high street retailers struggling up and down the country, innovation like this is great to see and is surely a positive for the town."
