The driver forgot to transfer his insurance to a new vehicle the court was told.

Driver Peter Body (28) changed his vehicle but forgot to transfer the insurance, Wick Sheriff Court heard last week.

The offence came to light when he was caught in a police traffic check in Henrietta Street, Wick, on October 17.

Body admitted the offence but his plea of not guilty to a subsequent no insurance charge was accepted by fiscal David Barclay.

Body, of Bridle Way, Upper Gills Road, Canisbay, was said to be unemployed and would need his licence in order to help him find a job.

Sheriff Lindsay Foulis noted that Body had remedied his insurance situation "fairly quickly" after being stopped by the police but observed that he had a conviction for speeding, just a few months earlier.

He said: "I take into account that disqualification will have a certain effect on you but under the circumstances I consider it is appropriate to take your licence away."

Body was banned from driving for six weeks and fined £200.
