Inspired by encounter with Northern Lights in Caithness skies

FOOD FOR THOUGHT by Rev Janet Easton-Berry, Pentland Parish

For years it has been a dream of mine to see the Northern Lights. A few days ago I had the privilege of seeing this from my back garden – I was absolutely awestruck at seeing the beautiful colours and dancing lights – what a show! God is truly amazing!

I feel closest to God when I am out in nature – the beauty of God’s creation is astounding and I am so grateful to be under the amazing Caithness skies.

Nature is incredible – the beauty of each and every thing takes my breath away. I think of the wee sparrows which to some may be ‘just brown’ but when you look at the different shades on their wings and the chirpiness and friendliness of them, it really lifts your spirits.

I remember watching a baby sparrow trying to lift a twig that was too big for it and it kept on falling over – that’s how we learn though.

God made us all unique and He loves each one of us with the most amazing unconditional love. He even knows the number of hairs on our head – we are so important to God. There is nothing we can do to make God love us more, and there is nothing we can do to make God love us less. We are dearly loved. We are his treasure as He is ours.
