Crew member on cruise ship in Cromarty Firth airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after incident in Invergordon, confirms Scottish Ambulance Service

A cruise ship crew member has been airlifted to hospital in Aberdeen after an incident at the Port of Cromarty Firth in Invergordon this morning.

It is understood that a crew member with Viking Cruises was injured, but further details were not immediately available.

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed that a man in his 40s was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

“We received a call today to attend an incident in Invergordon," a spokesman said. "We dispatched two ambulances, our trauma team, an air ambulance and a critical care paramedic to the scene.

"We airlifted one male patient in his 40s to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”

The Port of Cromarty Firth confirmed that the injured man was a crew member from a cruise ship.

A spokesperson for the port said: “We can confirm there was an incident at Saltburn pier on the Friday, August 18 involving a crew member from a cruise ship.

"The emergency services were in attendance and the crew member was transported to hospital.”
