The Norseman Hotel in Wick will host a three day book festival at the start of October it has just been announced.
The Indie Book Festival (IBF) takes place from Friday to Sunday on October 7-9 and has been organised by Glyn F Salisbury from The Write Place 2b.
"After Covid lockdown cancelled our first event, it is finally taking place with three days under one roof with 15 sessions and 12 authors, all willing to boost Wick," said Glyn.
"I run a writing group called The Write Place 2b and I and my group members have organised a stunning three days with no financial assistance from anywhere. We have a donation of 120 books worth £9.99 to give away to the first 120."
One of the star guests is Wendy H Jones, a prolific crime writer and the president of the Scottish Association of Writers.
There will also be a "comical session" like University Challenge in which two teams face a timed write off, not quite knowing what they will be writing until they hear the next three minute clue. The winner will be chosen by the audience.
There will also be a free Sunday night event in which winning stories, from competitions held over the last few months, will be read out and again, the winners will be chosen by the audience.
There will be four book launches during the IBF by Glyn F Salisbury, Lora M Sands, Tricia Little and Alison Kirk. Also, there will be tables with speakers' books available.
More info can be found and tickets can be ordered online at scotlandsindiebookfestival.co.uk or purchased on the door.
Glyn added: "Wick’s Independent Book Festival has to start somewhere. This is our first festival and brings you seven speakers and introduces you to the members of our writing group – some published and others soon to be. A bit of fun in the run up to Christmas."
