A Halkirk man was caught in possession of indecent photos of children when police raided his home.

Paul Hardman will be sentenced early in the new year after Sheriff Andrew Berry considers a background report.

Wick Sheriff Court was told on Wednesday that police officers who searched the 36-year-old's home, The Bungalow, Netherside Farm, Halkirk, on December 17, last year, recovered two hard drives featuring the illegal images of children with an age range of five to 15 years.

An application by Fiscal David Barclay for forfeiture of the hard drives was granted by the sheriff, who called for a background report.

Hardman, who pleaded guilty on indictment, will be sentenced on January 12. The first offender was placed on the Sex Offenders' Register.
