A record number of runners turned out for Wick Triathlon Club’s Easter 10k, with blue skies and light winds ensuring ideal conditions.

The 48 competitors tackled an out-and-back course on Sunday starting at Field Farm, Staxigoe, and going out to Noss Head lighthouse.

Runners ranged in age from 18 to 74, with an even split of males and females signing up. Darren Oag was the first male in a time of 35.20 and Lorna Stanger was the leading female in 45.54.

All Wick Triathlon Club events are staged in as environmentally friendly a way as possible, so the organisers use bikes borrowed from Cycling UK to set up and marshal the 10k.

Competitors and marshals were treated to a buffet during the prize-giving and, as is tradition, everyone went home with a creme egg. There were also a few Easter egg spot prizes.
